Ystradgynlais RFC " Junior Blues"

Jack Bradford has joined the mighty blues and has made an immediate impact with his hard and fast running with ball in hand. Welcome Jack !!!!

Afon Nedd have chosen their squad. 7 boys from Ystrad have been chosen. Ben Williams, Joel Holmes, Luc Caines, Ben Edwards, James Williams, Brodie Watkins, Alex Thomas and Kingsley Jones. Well done to you all. Can't believe Williams Johnson not picked, if only the selectors saw your game agains Bridgend with 3 fantastic tries they would have thought again.

Congratulations to all boys who attended the West Wales trials. A special congratulations goes to five boys from Ystrad u11 who got through to the final West Wales squad. Joel Holmes, James Williams, Cameron Miguel, Ben Williams and Ben Edwards, well done to you all. Ystradgynlais Rugby are very proud of you all. Excellent.

First game - Corus. Strong performance by all boys to start a very promising tournament.  Ben Edwards scoring 3 tries, and Joel Holmes scoring 1.

Second game - Tonmawr. This was our most threatening game of the tournament. Tonmawr looked a very strong pack and gave our boys a run for our money.  First half Ben E scored the first try in the corner to give Ystrad the lead.  Second half Tonmawr scored a good try to even score. With hard defending both sides ended up James Williams scoring the winning try of the game. EXCELLENT!!!! Come on Blues !!!!

Next up Bryncoch - Boys played strong again with 2 excellent tries each coming from Luc Caines and Ben Williams to take boys into SEMI FINALS.

SEMI FINAL - Glynneath

Ystrad overpowered Glynneath with a six tries to nil. Ben W 1, James W 1, Luc Caines 2, and Ben E 2.  EXCELLENT !!!!!!  FINAL HERE WE COME!!!!

FINAL - Crynant  Barbarians

After a long day of rugby Ystrad still did not give up and showed great strength and yet again overpowered their opponents.  Tries scored by Luc Caines 1, James Williams 1, William Johnson 1, Alex Thomas 1 and Ben Edwards 2.  ALL THE BOYS WERE OUTSTANDING TODAY.  WELL DONE TO ALL  THE FUTURES BRIGHT THE FUTURES BLUE.

This years Afan Nedd District tournament dates have been released. The u11's competition will be held at Crynant rfc on 1st March 2009. Having gone all season unbeaten, the u11's will be looking to improve on last years runner-up position, and end their spell in the "mini's" on a high. C'mon the "BLUES".............
